You know what I love? Mindfulness. An alternative is thoughtfulness. I often think about what will be the driving force that will disrupt the Netflix couch potato syndrome, Postmating, and subscription meal services we’ve inhabited. “Is dining dead?” It’s a question I tend to ask chefs. They all seem hopeful, but as a professional researcher I’ll never muster up the courage to break the otherwise news to them. So what’s there to do to salvage a dated traditional human pastime? Well, I found out over the past year that “experiential dining, like Winemaker’s Table Dinner at Estiatorio Milos, will be the saving grace.

This new dining trend has become very popular especially with the Facebook Events feature as of last year and strengthened this spring season. Regular Joe’s are orchestrating dining experiences with their local favorite spots and inviting the community. This being an old marketing trick has gone commercial.

As a media personality, I am often invited to these type of “dining experiences”. I’ve even attended JAY-Z’s 444 listening album party as part of the same ethos.

These dining experiences come in a wave of the desensitization we’re experiencing. Dinner events are an enticing alternative to the standard dinner for two or party of five, especially to a generation who grew up on fast-food and drive-thrus and not the supper club era.

A trip to Greece and fresh seafood in the middle of the desert? Is it possible? Yes! And it costs less than your Sephora shopping excursion– not that you should impede yourself from doing so the day before so you’re looking like the Grecian Gods that you are. Will I see you on August 2nd for MilosWinemaker’s Table Dinner? I’d love to stop by your table and say hi.
