Bentley Motors, the most sought-after luxury car brand in the world announced an acceleration of forward-thinking Beyond100 Strategy. The luxury automaker revealed the 2.5 billion pound ($3.4 billion) investment. The investment will be used to design, develop and produce the first Bentley electric vehicle. Creating the benchmark manufacturing in sustainable luxury mobility. And reduce Bentley’s carbon footprint across all products and non-factory operations. Keeping in line with Bentley’s commitment to be carbon neutral by 2030.
“Simultaneously accelerating our Beyond100 strategy and securing BEV production at Crewe, alongside a £2.5 billion investment, makes this a major landmark in Bentley’s 102-year history. It is a shining light for the Bentley family, our suppliers and partners, as well as the automotive industry and UK manufacturing as a whole.” said Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors.
A boost to the team at Crewe, the region, and the UK as a sustainable base for high-value manufacturing. The investment will allow a fundamental reinvention of the Crewe manufacturing infrastructure and help secure Bentley’s future for the next generation of products and colleagues. Crewe is headed to become a digital, zero environmental impact, flexible and high-value manufacturing facility.
The Dream Factory includes a go-to-zero approach on the environmental impacts of manufacturing. Having achieved carbon neutral production already in 2019, Bentley aims to reduce water consumption, waste to landfill and other environmental impacts for every vehicle built in Crewe to an absolute minimum until 2030.
“This latest announcement regarding Bentley’s Beyond100 plan confirms the initiation of a major transformative phase in the company’s long and illustrious history. The world is changing and we need to play our part in neutralising our environmental impact. That means delivering on our aim to be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030, and reaffirming our role as the leader in sustainable luxury mobility,” said Hallmark.
