A Garden Sometimes Grows More Than Flowers, It Grows More Wine

  • La Cave expanded its location at the Wynn
  • More wines have been added to the list

Here’s why I’m excited that La Cave Food and Wine is finally done with its renovations: I’m thirsty.

I’m thirsty to see what mega restaurateurs Michael and Jenna Morton dreamed up this time. What could possibly make La Cave better?

You should know that the Morton family, in general, does not play when it comes to any of their restaurant concepts (re: La Comida).

To be honest, I’m not sure how they’re able to create not just restaurants but vibes.

Not everyone can create a restaurant with an atmosphere. That is something only the Gods of hospitality can do.

When I figure out how they do it, I will let you know (which will probably be never).

For now though, know that the renovation expanded La Cave to 6,300 square feet.

That means there’s more room for more wine, which makes me as happy as a drunken clam because same.

They now carry Lanson Rose Label Brut Rosé, Reims, France; Domaine Gerovassiliou Malagousia 2016, Epanome, Greece; and Alvaro Palacios Camins del Priorat 2017, Priorat, Spain. New bottle selections include Egon Muller Scharzhofberger Riesling Kabinett, Mosel, Germany 2012; Domino de Pingus, Ribera del Duero, Spain 2011; and Boiche Family Cellar Beckstoffer Georges III Cabernet Sauvignon, Napa Valley 2012.

Where else do you go for food and wine in a moody intimate place where you can equally wear your fancy joggers and vixen heels (think Rihanna) and a really slinky sexy slip dress with sneakers (think Kylie Jenner) when you’re in the mood for food, wine, and chill?

Not many places have that fluidity like La Cave Food and Wine.

How do you turn away the opportunity to essentially eat outdoors indoors in an enclosed glass seating area and a new menu that includes fancy chicken with caviar ($29), short rib tacos ($18), sea scallops with chorizo and quail eggs ($19), or baked meatballs ($19)?

In retrospect, I’m also thirsty to try their new wines because wine is always a good idea.
