The month of January marks National Blood Donor Month. And JW Marriott Las Vegas and Rampart Casino with Vitalant are hosting a weekend blood drive on January 29th and January 30th from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. inside the Marquis Ballroom.
Nearly two years into the pandemic the healthcare system continues to see a national blood shortage. Vitalant, which services more than 900 hospitals across twenty-eight states, is experiencing a historic, two-year low blood supply. With the fast-spreading omicron variant, the latest COVID-19 complication is forcing community blood drives to cancel and lessening the number of healthy and available donors.
As of December 2021, blood donations at Vitalant have fallen short of the need by more than 4,500 donations and have seen a continued trend into the new year. The shortage is not unique to Vitalant. Associations representing all blood services organizations in the United States warned the nation’s blood supply is at a dangerously low level.
Here’s how you can help.
Visit JW Marriott Las Vegas and Rampart Casino from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. this weekend. Donors are encouraged to schedule an appointment by visiting www.vitalant.org and enter “RAMPART” as the code or by calling 877-25-VITAL.
Donors will receive a fifty percent voucher for the Market Place Buffet. Redeemable for brunch or dinner.
