J.Crew was never my style to begin with. It was a preppy mall brand and then Jenna Lyons took over as president and creative director in 2008 and boom shakalaka my leisurewear wardrobe made room for a denim jacket. I’ve always been the sporty type at my core.
The year 2010 was a good year for J.Crew. It was Lyons who married luxe fabrics, embroidery, patterns, her own sense of style to J.Crew, and my ultimate favorite, tailoring.
Lyons became an inspiration for women worldwide for her corporate success and sense of style. She’s a fashion icon in her own right after all re: the denim jacket with a luxe, long, hot pink skirt that she wore to the Met Gala in 2012.
Six months ago she left J.Crew after two-years of slow sales with a reported $1,000,000 in her pocket (yeah, the way). She’s back at it again, however, this time with an unscripted lifestyle series and a daily digital content and direct-to-consumer programing in partnership with Turner Entertainment, WWD reports.
I’m going to tell Jenna what I told Rihanna when she dropped Fenty Beauty: I am ready to give you ALL of money (again), so bring it on.
