“What am I going to order?” That was the first thought that came in mind. There were so many great choices. I couldn’t just pick one. I didn’t know if I wanted breakfast or BBQ or just everything. Thankfully, my server Julia at Virgil’s Real BBQ helped me out with some recommendations. I ordered the Fried Chicken and Waffles served with sage gravy, Chef’s Favorite Burrito served with house fries and salsa (a Virgil’s favorite), and Southern Rise N’ Shine Platter (potatoes, brisket, and eggs).
Their drink menu is across the spectrum. You can choose Longnecks, Tall Boys, Bloody Mary (with a nice, whole chicken wing presented at the top of the glass), specialty drinks, and you guessed it– mimosas.
Instead of beer or mimosa, I opted for Mama’s Lil’ Helper made with Skyy Vodka, passionfruit juice, and orange juice served in a mason jar and rim topped with some fun rock. It was a tasty drink and more importantly it definitely paired well with the meal.
After approximately ten short minutes of ordering, the food was hot and ready-served on my table. This is probably the first I’ve experienced fresh food being cooked in that amount of time. I was impressed. Even more so with the first bite of each dish.
I thought I wasn’t going to make it through all the deliciousness on my table, but I did with some help. The food wasn’t heavy but definitely filling. I didn’t feel overly stuffed and wanting to go to sleep right after. I still had energy after.
I kept looking around, noticing all the different plates rushing out and ending onto the other patrons’ tables. BBQ can get messy and I loved that at the end of my meal, they bring out hot towels to wipe my hands with.
When everything was eaten and done, I didn’t want to leave. I wasn’t ready to. I was having way too much of a good time. The staff makes you want to come back. I enjoyed their hospitality. They make me want to come back and I can’t wait to with friends. I get the feeling I’ll have the same experience again.
If you’re up for trying something new than your typical champagne brunch this summer, give Virgil’s Real BBQ at the LINQ a visit. Their brunch is on Saturdays and Sundays from 8am to 12pm. They changed my mind on what brunch is all about.
