Are We Seriously About To Breakup With Brunch In 2019?

I don’t know. I feel guilty thinking about it. I love champagne too much. But the idea of chowing down on crispy, juicy, well-seasoned fried chicken with a crisp beer does sound like a good idea.

Beerunches like Virgil’s Real BBQ at The LINQ Promenade recently started serving breakfast daily, but it’s their newly added weekend beerunch that really got me thinking. Are we truly ready and willing to cheat on our beloved champagne brunch?

It already seems pretty low maintenance compared to champagne brunch.

“IDK what to wear! What are you wearing?” The questions that never fail to be asked in the group message the day of or literally an hour before we’re supposed to be meeting.

I imagine myself skipping on the basic champagne brunch uniform of a romper and boots and sliding into my comfy tracksuit and Gucci slides. Wearing a flannel would probably be the uniform.

I guess a BBQ-themed brunch can sound like a heavy meal, but you’d be wrong. Southern charmed brunches include velvety morning grits (sprinkle on some bacon bits) and, for example, Virgil’s Real BBQ Biscuit egg sandwiches like cheese, bacon or smoked brisket. A chargrilled 10 oz New York Strip with eggs or the classic fried chicken and waffles.

Chocolate chip and mixed fresh berry buttermilk pancakes and an oversized yogurt parfait also sound tasty AF.

If you’re more of lunch bruncher, opt for traditional Memphis-style pork ribs, BBQ nachos, and sandwiches such as the brisket melt with the, of course, the bottomless beerunch Virgil’s Ale for only $18. This breakup with champagne brunch may be more of a open relationship, if you ask me.

Just in case you’re curious: beerunch at Virgil’s Real BBQ at The LINQ starts at 8AM to 12PM on Saturday and Sunday. You coming?
