Dear People Who Have Problems With Unofficial Holidays, This Is For You

Someone I had just met during dinner about two months ago asked, “Who comes up with all these national foodie holidays? Are they even verified? So stupid.” That really stuck with me because I couldn’t disagree more. I mean, who cares who comes up with them, or if they’re verified. It’s fun to exist in the energy of celebration even if it’s something like fun like World Gin Day, which is this Saturday, June 9, by the way

Tell me: what is life if not but a celebration? When I think about establishments like Juniper Cocktail Lounge at Park MGM who partake in these celebrations, I can only correlate it to the idea of gratitude.

Sure, they’re hosting a party in honor of gin, and they’ll be featuring their lounge’s fizzy  “Tanqueray” libation for only $10 too, but doesn’t this also remind you to be grateful for the little things in life like gin? Juniper Cocktail Lounge has gone as far as booking the world’s largest cocktail shaker to make an appearance at their “gin-tastic,” celebration to create “Ramos Gin Fizz” cocktails during the event.

I don’t even get celebrated like that AND I’M A PERSON.

There aren’t enough holidays in the year to go out and celebrate something or to put things into perspective like something as simple as a gin celebration. And, honestly, sometimes you need something fun like World Gin Day to help you get out of a funk. Life may not always be a pleasant experience, and sometimes it can feel like there’s nothing to be grateful for, but if you’re asking me, I’m always up to raise my spirit, and a glass, whether it’s a verified holiday or not.
