Ahh! The cool, refreshing feeling of digging into a salad with that perfect crunch. Summer is in full swing, and monsoon season too. Although we may be lacking in greenery here in the desert, the fresha and crisp salads found around town is precisley what we need to get by in this happy little desert of ours. Which one will you try?
Butter, Butter, & More Butter
If there’s food on the table, add a stick of butter. Or at least that’s what my grandma would do. Yardbird Southern Table & Bar at The Venetian gets it. Their southern salad comes with butter lettuce & grilled mango salad has char-grilled mango, smoked pecans, tomatoes, onions and benne seed dressing. My motto is, if it’s green it’s healthy.
Flower Power
The Holy Land Of Salads
The mecca of salads. Whole Foods is the absolute best and fills my life with joy every time I walk in. I can’t be the only one who hears an angels chorus when the door swings open. If you think the salad bar at Pizza Hut was plentiful, just wait until you see this place. Also, don’t judge me. Pizza Hut is a fine establishment. Back to the point, Whole Foods has too many ingredients to list and I don’t want to bore you with a salad chart. And, bonus points to them for having other healthy treats that you can take home for later. Whole Foods, I hope you know I pray to you every day.
Do You Even Lift Bro?
With the name “Greens & Proteins” it’s pretty obvious that anything you get here will be healthy and delicious. But their G&P Chopped Salad blows everything else out of the water. It has roasted turkey, spinach, roasted corn, cranberries, pumpkin seeds, artichokes, couscous, balsamic tomatoes and buttermilk pesto. And who says a salad can’t fill you up.
Picking Through The Garden With Mama
Harvest at Bellagio is a no-brainer when it comes to fresh salads that leave you feeling rejuvenated after. Chef Roy Ellamar is all about health-inspired menu items. So every bite of the arugula salad tastes like eating something that was just picked from the garden. The special thing about this dish is that all the ingredients came from the Blue Lizard Farm in Nevada. It has heirloom citrus fruits, lemon poppy seed croutons, and ricotta salata.
It’s Time For A Flavor Fiesta
It’s time to have a fiesta, followed by a siesta. Pancho’s is serving up a flavor party in your mouth with their Ensalada de Mango y Pollo. Culture + Salad = pure perfection. This salad comes with seasoned grilled chicken breast, mixed greens, toasted pumpkin seeds, sliced grapes and jicama tossed with a Citrus Honey Vinaigrette. Topped with sliced mangos and sprinkled with Cotija Cheese. Refreshing and just enough to put you into a food coma. There’s nothing like a midday summer nap.
