Charlize Theron was in Las Vegas this past Saturday on Oct. 20 at The Venetian for her annual fundraiser for the CTAOP (Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project).

Even an accomplished actress like Theron knows that it’s more than writing a check and calling it a day. It’s about get involved and organizing to bring awareness to causes like HIV.

See, involving oneself in humanitarian work is a responsibility you take on to be one of the faces, and in some cases the face, of a particular pressing humanitarian crisis.

That is why CTAOP was founded in 2007 by Theron, the Academy-Award winning actress and also UN Messenger of Peace, on the principles of investing in African youth in her home country of South Africa to keep them safe from being affected by the nasty, deadly incurable disease known as HIV.

When Theron celebrated the annual fundraiser at The Venetian, CTAOP supporters and Venetian VIP guests joined to help with that mission. They lived a festive night filled with game-play, music, gift bags sponsored by DIOR, and a pop-up lounge from The Venetian Cocktail Collective featured by the glamorous Rosina barmy editor’s favorite pick of the week!).

It goes to show that the work of a humanitarian is not only never done, but that the need for humanitarians around the world will never be at capacity. It’s easy to start. You just need to have a passion.
