Rihanna made the difficult decision to sue her father for cashing in on her Fenty brand name according to recent reports.
The lawsuit was filed in U.S. federal court in Los Angeles on Tuesday after her party learned that Ronald Fenty, her father, and his two business partners presented fraudulent and false advertisement that she was in anyway associated to his talent and production company, Fenty Entertainment.
Rihanna’s business success outside of music comes by way of the Fenty traemark name to sell her inclusive makeup company Fenty Beauty, lingerie, Savage by Fenty, and sneakers deal with Puma.
According to the lawsuit, Rihanna asked the court for an injunction to stop her father from using the Fenty name, plus an unspecified amount of paid damages.
The lawsuit also says that the singer had “absolutely no affiliation” with Fenty Entertainment, who had accepted a $15 million offer in 2017 in the agreement that she was to perform 15 shows in Latin America.
Fenty Entertainment also falsely implied that the Rihanna was involved in a boutique hotels project.
